Re: NFL-Offense vs Defense
This is definetely one of the hardest football debates I've ever come across. I've read a few responses, but not all, just so it wouldn't sway my opinion or make me forget what I was going to say.
First off, I would say offense. They break down the defense, or attempt to do so. The defense thus reacts to them. Act vs. React, and I think that an offense is better suited in that department.
Then I got to thinking, well, when an offense lines up, they've got to react to the defense and what they give them. So another Act vs. React, in favor of the defense this time.
Would the best Wide Reciever be able to get away from the best Corner Back? Would the best Defensive End be able to get by the best Offensive Tackle. So on and so forth, this debate really has no answer. The closest thing you have to that, is the Raiders v. Buccaneers Superbowl we had some years back, and we all saw what happened there.
So, without a sure-fire answer, here's what I think.
Offense is more important than defense in College Football, 9 times out of 10. Defense is more important than offense in Professional Football, 9 times out of 10.
That's all I got.
