Online is pretty simple, you either have to have Wi-Fi which the Wii picks up by itself, or you have to buy a 25$ Wii Lan adapter at Best Buy which is a USB adapter that connects to your Wii and has an ethernet port on it so you can directly connect if you don't have a wireless connection.
You then just go on Mario Kart and hit multiplayer! Its really really really fun, you won't regret it!
