Without any warning, My head gasket has blown. Fuck, and School is about to start soon. I really need my own transportation. I'm debating on whether to sell the car, lose a bit of money, and get a reliable import or slap 1000 bucks on the table(no warranty:() and deal with un-reliable gm?
Man, I will never purchase a gm vehicle again.:(

As much as I love imports over domestics, I gotta say it's not really GMs fault. It's a high mileage cars. Things are bound to start deteriorating.
Are you 100% sure it's the head gasket?

usually a blown headgasket comes from a previous time that the car has been run hot. Either from something faulty in the cooling system (water pump, radiator, thermostat, cracked hose, etc) or driving harshly/harsh conditions like towing.
but i have to say that cooling system problems in imports are far less than gm's. I've never had a water pump fail on me in an import but then again i always change my hondas with the timing belt ever 60K. I've never had a gm water pump last more than about 50K before she started leaking fluid.

30 dollars is cheap...my brothers head gasket blew on his prelude...after resurfacing the head, getting a new head gasket, timing belt and water pump it cost well over 200 dollars to fix

My oil looked like a starbucks latte. I gotta go to the mechanic for an exact answer. But yeah, this has pissed me off. I saw this coming, but my parents refuse to sell the car!

yep thats the head gasket, i would sell it and find a cheap STOCK civic and just drive.
you will save tons of money in gas to cover the loss in the sale of the gm. |
