With Joba's upcoming first start of the season likely coming tuesday. I figured I would make this performance thread to follow his progress

5 2/3 innings and 3 runs given up is my prediction.

Yanks should have waited another 5 days to get him in the rotation. They should of just used Igawa for tomorrow and let Joba come in around the 4th or 5th inning and get his pitch count up to 75 or so. Then let him start sunday

Yeah it definitly didn't helped when he balked and then Molina misses his down and inside 2 seamer that should have been caught. Still think Joba should have had one mroe week in the pen. Matter of fact, they should have just done this in spring training because now the bullpen is fucking shot

lol, idk y people made such a big freaking deal about this??!!??! Seriously he's a great pitcher and all, but he's played only 50 innings. Did people expect him to be lights out right out of the gate? lol, he needed his arm stretched out more. And even so, I still think its a horrible move to put him in the rotation.
Its the like the yankees are following a philosophy of; "if it aint broke, break it" |

I never expected him to be lights out yesterday. Plus the Yankees are run by a bunch of morons. Yeah let's let everyone know he's on a 60 pitch limit pitch count. So the Blue Jays just sat there and worked the count. One thing that annoyed me yesterday was, he walks a guy on a 3-2 count with a curveball after he shook Molina off (who wanted a fastball). He should have thrown a fastball on that count. It was a bad outting because of two things: 3 walks and only pitched 2 innings. The hit he gave up was a seeing eye single between 2nd and 1st. Hr did have 3ks though.
He will naturally get better. He's also gotta stop acting frustrated out there on the field. He's gotta learn to shake off those kind of things. |

He's really learning that he's not just out there for 1-2 innings and that he can't just blow stuff by people anymore. He's gotta react as if he'll be back the inning after and the inning after that.
It's great that he'll eventually be a very good starting pitcher but the Yankee bullpen is pretty thin right now and moving him out has left a tremendous hole between the starters and Mo. Great timing Hank (Yes I said Hank because I doubt Girardi or Cashman wanted him in the rotation just yet). |
