I'm not putting an age limit on this, but they have to be pretty young for consideration and please mention why you disagree with one of my rankings.
1. Tim Lincecum 2. Scott Kazmir 3. Cole Hamels 4. Edison Volquez 5. Felix Hernandez 6. Joba Chamberlain 7. Mike Pelfrey 8. Francisco Liriano 9. Clay Bucholz 10. Chad Billingsley Honorable Mentions: Justin Verlander: He should be able to get it turned around next year and get his 18 wins. Fausto Carmona: Nasty sinker, had a down year, but can pick it up again with some more command. Last edited by cruzg24; 09-06-2008 at 10:43 PM. |

The only reason that Felix is being named to be lower is because of one thing: He's a Mariner, and they're not a very good team. But think of it, his losses this year are mostly because of lack in run support, hence the low ERA.
If he was somewhere else, like say with the Angels, then maybe he'd be given credit to be higher and not be demoted past his current spot. I think his spot is very fair due to lack of run support. If he had the support, then he'd be higher. But no lower. |

I just wish Felix would put it all together like Hamels, Kazmir, and Lincecum have done. Kazmir and Lincecum don't get as much run support as they should but they still pitch very effectively. What pisses me off is that Felix has the pitches to be great, but he just can't translate it enough like the guys above him have.
Idk y, but Cain doesn't rlly deserve to be on there, lol. |

Yea, but idk if Weaver deserves to be on the list. Do you think he's top 10?

He's impressive. If I had to pick him for that top ten, I wouldn't put him there. More like an honorable mention. But what about Jimenez from Colorado? I mean he's got a 100 MPH fastball.

Yea Jimenez might get there eventually, this is his 1st year as a full time starter and isnt half bad with 10 wins, nice K total, and ERA is a little high for my taste, but thats understandable playing in Colorado.

Kazmir has good stuff but he just can't seem to go more than 5 or 6 innings recently.
Lincecum is definitely number 1, and I really hope he gets the Cy Young over Webb and I hope Sabathia isn't even eligible for the NL this year. |

im going to be called a homer but outside of Lincecum, Joba probably has the best pure stuff. Hes got a plus fastball, plus slider and plus curveball. During the off season the yanks are either going to have him work on the changeup or cutter

I put Joba at 6 for now, since he hasn't really pitched a full season yet. And the others have or about to with great numbers. Joba showed me that he has the stuff to get it done, but I've noticed he gets flustered easily and that he needs to control it, or else hitters will get to him due to his impatience by fouling off everything. Especially those pesky japanese hitters, lol.
