Thumbs down Carl Pavano - What a joke!

per EPSN

Pavano to visit Dr. Andrews regarding forearm

ESPN.com news services

The black and white of the pinstripes is more like dominoes these days because that's how the Yankees are falling.

Pavano

It seemed the injury news could not get any worse but a New York Times report on Wednesday said that starter Carl Pavano plans to call Dr. James Andrews on Thursday to schedule an appointment after he experienced a setback with his strained right forearm.
Andrews is the noted Birmingham, Ala., surgeon who specializes in operations on the arms of major league pitchers.
"I don't think it ever gets easy," Pavano said, according to the newspaper. "I never dreamed it would be four weeks later and we're still concerned about it."
Pavano cut short a bullpen session on Wednesday in Texas and has been shut down for the immediate future. He hasn't pitched since April 9 and has made only 19 appearances for the Yankees since signing a four-year, $39.95 million contract before the 2005 season.
The staggering run of health problems with the Yankees played a major role in the team firing conditioning coach Marty Miller on Monday.
Prized prospect Phil Hughes was throwing a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Tuesday before leaving with a hamstring injury. He joined Pavano, Mike Mussina (hamstring) and Jeff Karstens (broken right leg) on the disabled list. Chien-Ming Wang was sidelined early in the season with a hamstring injury.
The Yankees' game against the Rangers was rained out on Wednesday.

When he signed that contract with the yanks, he had the Ski mask in his back pocket

actually it's making its way around NY that Pavano may need Tommy John Surgery..that means he's done this year and next..that means the Yanks insurance policy picks up the contract and rids the Yankees of this massive black cloud

Oh man I almost forgot the red sox still have Matt Clement. I hope he can pitch sometime soon. So that the red sox can at least get some trade value out of him.

Here is a quote from Joe Torre

Quote:
My feeling is, he is hurt," Yankees manager Joe Torre said. "Now, are you supposed to feel 100 percent every time you go out there? That's not possible. But, again, I guess it's the nature of the injury that really dictates what you can deal with."

Pavano is 5-7 in 19 starts with the Yankees, who signed him to a $39.95 million, four-year contract before the 2005 season. He went 4-6 with a 4.77 ERA in 17 starts with New York in his first season, then was sidelined from June 27, 2005, until last month by shoulder, back, buttocks, elbow and rib injuries.

He made his first two starts this year, going 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA, but started feeling forearm soreness during his second outing, a win at Minnesota on April 9.

"I was of a mind that these are muscles he hasn't used for a while. It didn't seem to alarm him because he went out and pitched a couple more innings," Torre said. "So this really was a surprise to me."

HAHA. One of the only Florida studs from the 2002 team to REALLY flop. Burnett is okay, Penny is doing good, and Beckett is still a top pitcher.
