So I'm sure some of you were watching todays O's Bosox game. O's blew a 5 run lead in the bottom of the 9th due to Per-lose-o taking out Guthrie who was pitching a hell of a game. I could get into the issues that Ray has as a closer but I just wanted to get a feel and see who everyone thought the worst manager or front office people are in baseball. Anyone messing things up for your team this year?
My vote of course goes for Peter Angelos and Sam Perlozzo. So far this year Perlozzo has lost about 4-5 games for the O's by taking starting pitchers out who were pitching excellent and felt good to continue. |

By far the worst executive in major league baseball is jim hendry of the cubs. Hendry's career as general manager has set a new standard for futility, and he trails only isiah thomas for the title of worst executive in north american sports. hendry has squandered tens millions of dollars, year after year, as the cubs near the top of the league in payroll, yet are cellar dwellers with regard to the standings. i understand some clubs are only interested in turning a profit (see: pittsburgh pirates, arizona diamondbacks, colorado rockies), yet many of these clubs keep payrolls low, and are usually more competitive than the cubbies. with the payroll hendry has to work with, and as weak a division as the nl central consitently is, you'd think hendry could produce at least a competitive ballclub. the cubs front office, under hendry's direction, has also done extremely poorly getting quality big leaguers through the draft. this has been hendry's formula for failure, and for cubs fan sake, i hope this is hendry's last year in office.

oh, and for worst manager in baseball, the honor must go to phil garner, whos unrelenting tinkering of the line ups, and mind boggling decisions with regard to the bullpen, have taken one of the most talented clubs in baseball, and produced very little as a result

Worst GM? Bill Stoneman. I can't believe the team has had so many high level prospects just flame out. Also his inability to get another bat behind Guerrero is killing the Angels, a team that has an awesome rotation with a very solid bullpen.

you have to love how the angels cut loose bobby jenks and derrick turnbow because "they couldn't pitch in the big leagues". stoneman has quite an eye for talent wouldn't you say?

He refused to part with Mathis, Kotchman, and McPherson and all 3 have bombed so far. The only one that was supposed to be a sure shot was McPherson and he's just been derailed by injuries. With Morales coming behind Kotchman, they should've moved him when he had some value. Glad I'm not an Angel fan, I'd be pounding my head into a wall right now. |

yeah Phil Garner is the worst.
Steve Phillips as a GM of the mets is right up there too. Not only did make the worst trades and signings (trading Kazmir for Victor Zambrano and signing Mo Vaughn to a horrendus contract), he also sucks as a MLB anyalst for ESPN. Everything he reports is wrong. Not one time has he been right. He makes Peter Gammons look great. Which Leads me to Peter Gammons, everytime the yankees make a move the red sox were trying to do, he answers with...."the red sox never wanted or never talked to the player etc...." Which was the case with Roger Clemens. Said the Sox only offered 6 million, when in fact it was between 16-20 million. Did he forget the video montage the sox sent clemens last year. Lets also not forget the mess Omar Minaya had to cleanup to get the mets where they are now. |
