Wow. I really can't believe it. He actually did leave the NBA for Europe. This is not good for the NBA at all. Stern can't be happy about this one.

Agree with you DA. This is not a good sign.
Carlos Delfino, Bostjan Nachbar, Allan Ray, Tony Delk, JC Navaro....all these guys decided they'd rather play in Europe than the NBA. Granted, none of them are stars, but they all still could be guys playing in the rotation for a lot of NBA teams. Now Josh Childress who is a starting calibar player heads overseas is not a good sign. And I don't blame them. That 20 million he's getting is after taxes and he only plays one game a week (31 a year). That's a great deal that a lot of players will find more enticing. Brandon Jennings is skipping college after failing his SATs for Europe. So instead of going to classes he's going to get paid to play 31 games (pretty much the same as in college) and live it up in a cool place like Italy. He probably is going to get much more in Europe than an NBA rookie scale contract would allow. I bet a lot of other HS kids will consider this option over college. If this is a sign of things to come, this just waters down the talent in the league. Even though the guys leaving aren't stars, they're legit NBA talent that now will probably be replaced buy guys that are in the D-league. Guys like Mario West, Coby Karl, CJ Watson, Mike Harris, Ronald Dupree, Justin Reed, etc. are going to be taking the place of these guys. David Stern wanted to make the game more international. Well, he got his wish. But this is probably not what he had envisioned. |

Thats part his fault for putting the the age rule. He also alianates his players with his stupid dresscode rule and also the damn new basketball thing that failed. Just stupid shit. Im glad Jennings went overseas. I would have too. Even if he did pass the SAT's... WTF is the point of going to college for one season for free? Your not going to stay in school anyways. Why spend half your time doing homework and writing papers? F that.
I would never have been good enough to go to the NBA but I did get a little bit of interest from a D1 school in NY called Siena. I wasn't really intersted cause I was overseas at the time and getting tryouts and playing over there. The only reason people go to college is to get a higher paying job. Well when you can make Millions right out of highschool, nobody is going to take college seriously. This is all Sterns fault and he is getting what he asked for. Think about it. The best players in the league are from Highschool. Lebron Kobe Tmac KG Dwight Howard Rashard Lewis..... |

It goes both ways on the talent coming from highschool or college.
This doesnt wreck the NBA lol its Josh Childress, he is first of all nothing special. Secondly he signed a deal where he is allowed to opt out after each season. He goes there doesnt like and will be back in a year. He didnt want to play for the Hawks and they didnt want to trade him. SO why stay here and play for a team for a year that you dont want to be on for far less than 7 mill, when you can leave for a year make more money and come back next year a complete FA no restricted bs. The kid that was to stupid to pass the sats obv had to go to EUro leagues to keep his game and stock up. DOnt expect to see top level highschoolers want to go overseas. You get ten times the exposure in the states and increase you NBA stock greatly.

the reason implemented that rule was because if you look at all the guys that come right out of high school into the NBA....only about 10% of them play for more than 3 years.....and then they are bsicly screwed...the quality of the draft was going down and was gettign filled with players that were not ready |

Thats not true. Just because they are not superstars does not mean they shouldnt be allowed to come.
Deshawn Stevenson Kwame Brown Darius Miles Eddy Curry Tyson Chandler These guys are all normal players who came out of highschool and have been in the league for awhile now. Who hasnt lasted 3 seasons? |

its still nothing special....average the NBA will do just fine without Josh Childress
and everyone knows that a superstar is never going to leave here to go over seas unless that person is from their....the guys over their might make more...but you guys are forgetting about the ad dollars these guys get here....along with the fame...they wont get that over their..and these guys have egos so big, they couldnt live without that attention |

The NBA is built on HS players The biggest stars are guys that made the jump: KG, Kobe, LeBron, T-Mac, Dwight Howard, Amare. Then there's the up-and-coming starts: Joh Smith, Andrew Bynum, Al Jefferson, and Monta Ellis. After that, there's the guys that are legit starters and have had solid careers. Some borderline all-stars: Rashard Lewis, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry, Al Harrington, DeShawn Stevenson And we have the players that have had solid careers have found a niche in the league: Darius Miles, Kwame Brown, DeSagana Diop, Travis Outlaw, Kendrick Perkins, Shaun Livingston, Sebastian Telfair, JR Smith, Dorrell Wright, Martell Webster, Gerald Green, CJ Miles, Andray Blatche, Louis Williams, Jonathan Bender, and Amir Johnson. Out of the guys that have been drafted, the only real true busts have been: Korleone Young, Leon Smith, Ousmne Cissie, Ndudi Ebi, James Lang, and Robert Swift...though Swift looked good til he got hurt. So even though the a lot don't live up to the hype, most of them have nice careers and the minority actually are busts. Hell, as bad as Kwame is, he's still managed to get paid 42 million over his career. And will still have a job next year. |

Korleone Young, Leon Smith and James Lang are really the only busts. The rest are still in the league or playing overseas or in the D league. They are not starving.

I don't really see Ben Gordon leaving. He's from around here and does a lot with the community and stuff and he always is cheered for in the Garden.
BTW I nearly puke every time you guys mention Eddy Curry |
