Vince Young is known for escaping pressure. The quarterback almost took that to extremes.
The Tennessee Titans 2006 Rookie of the Year told NFL.com in an interview posted on Monday that he considered retirement after his first season. "I really thought long and hard about it," Young told the Web site. "There was so much going on with my family. It was crazy being an NFL quarterback. It wasn't fun anymore. All of the fun was out of it. All of the excitement was gone. All I was doing was worrying about things. "My teammates helped lift me out of it. I prayed really hard. And I began to focus on God's calling for me. Play football. Be a role model." Young was installed as the Titans starter in Week 4 of his rookie season and led Tennessee to an 8-8 record. The Titans barely missed making the playoffs, but Young was named to the Pro Bowl. Last season, the Titans did make it to the playoffs, but Young threw all nine of the team's touchdown passes for the fewest of any team in the league. Nonetheless, he learned to live with the pressure of being an NFL quarterback. Source: ESPN.com |

exactly. Everyone wants to retire until they have to pay back that signing bonus...look at Ricky Williams.

I think Young's a great QB, he wins games and thats all you can ask from an NFL QB. As for the topic of him retiring, I don't it was appropriate for him to bring these comments to the public, especially the Titans organization. I mean seriously do you want your franchise player saying; "Oh yea i almost left you guys cuz I didnt feel like playing anymore..."
What If Jamarcus Russell said that? Or Patrick Willis? Or Eli Manning? Idk about you guys, but if his emotions are going to dictate his love of the game and willingness to play, after an 8-8 record in the AFC, how do you think he is going to handle it when he DOES go through some adversity. Hope he can get back on track, because last year he under-performed and he has a lot of talent. |

9 Td's. 17 Int's. AWFUL. HE doesn't win games. Thats media hype propaganda. HIS TEAM is very solid allaround and TOGETHER they win games. After two seasons he has 22 fumbles. Thats horrible. He is nothing more then a big athlete that has exceptional running skills. His decision making and accuracy are piss poor so far. He is the most overhyped QB I've ever seen outside of Michael Vick. Both are great athletes but below average QB's.
