Merril Hodge calls Vince Young 'a baby'

This cracked me up. In an interview on a Pittsburgh Radio station with Merril Hodge, he spoke of Vince Young, saying the following.

Here are highlights from Merril Hoge's screed against Vince Young, via an interview with Merril Hoge on WDVE in Pittsburgh:
• "He's a baby. He's a soft baby."
• College recruiters refused to recruit Vince Young because he was a crybaby.
• Titans players believe that Vince Young takes all the credit when things go well, and disappears when things go bad.
• Vince lives three miles from the stadium and has a limo pick him up and take him to every game, and every practice.
• Vince Young will be cut at the end of the year (oh, and so will Matt Leinart, who also, according to Merril, is a quitter).
• Jeff Fisher "fought like crazy" to keep the Titans from drafting Vince Young, and said he had no chance to run an NFL offense.

I'm pretty much agreeing with the big baby part. If Collins keeps up his good play, bye bye Vince.

He shouldn't have been made a team captain in the first place.

Niether QB is going to cut. Thats not going to happen. I believe that Jeff Fisher didn't want Vince though. Haha. Limo to pick him up every day? WTF?

As that article said, all of what Merrill says could be true or none of it could be true or some of it could be true. I find it hard to believe that a limo takes him to practices and games.

Merrill's had a hard on for Young for a while now.

Merril Hodge is an idiot.

One does not simply "get over" depression, its a serious brain issue. Merrill calling him a baby is so misinformed...honestly, I don't even like Young as a player much, but I hope he comes back and tears it up.

I do too. Merril Hodge needs to go back and do what he does best, agree hopelessly with the other members of NFL Live and not worry about Vince Young. He isn't a pretty or profilic passer, but he makes plays that give the Titans a chance to win. What would a team want, a QB that passes for 300 or 400 yards per game and lights up the field with their team going 9-7 missing the playoffs or one that simply wins and makes the playoffs?

I agree that Leinart isn't panning out in Arizona the way they expected, but he may fit in somewhere else and be fine. I don't call either two of these players crybabys or quitters....I give those two names to someone like Ryan Leaf. Maybe if he would watch Kurt Warner and take notes, he could be a little better where he's at.

I'm with the group of people who are taking the side of "Hey, while things might not be working out, he's dealing with depression, name calling isn't something he needs and shows how uneducated you are on the subject".

As an Arizona fan, I can understand about under-acheiving QBs, but you have to seperate the player from the man in a situation like this.

This has been an on-going problem, it's on Vince to get it taken care of now. We know he's suffering but if it is as bad as it sounds, maybe he needs to just take the rest of the year off and focus on his mental health rather then trying to come back.

I hope he hasn't lost his love for the game. It's still early in his career. Barry Sanders had the excuse of the Lions relying on him alone to win games and he had one of the best careers in NFL history, but the Lions never won. I think that would cause anyone to lose love for the game. But, Vince Young has a chance to be the focal point around a good young team and they will win many games.

i guess we will have to see.....i am not a big fan of vince young, but i hope that he can over come this and get back to playing...not so much for himself...but for the team and the city that he made a commitment to..
