The Atlanta Falcons have reached an agreement in principle with the Oakland Raiders to trade cornerback DeAngelo Hall for the Raiders' second-round pick in the 2008 draft, pending the Raiders finalizing a contract with Hall, a source close to the Falcons told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. While a Raiders source said Hall and the team are nearing an agreement on a contract, the source close to Hall said there is "still a lot of work to get it done." The Raiders source said the deal is expected to pay Hall just below what Asante Samuel signed with the Eagles. Samuel signed a six-year deal worth a reported $57 million, with $20 million guaranteed. Hall, a former first-rounder taken with the eighth pick in the 2004 draft, would be paired with Nnamdi Asomugha, giving Oakland one of the top tandems in the game. The move would also provide insurance if Asomugha were to leave as a free agent following next season. The Raiders placed the exclusive franchise tag on Asomugha, guaranteeing him at least $9.465 million in 2008. They still would like to sign him to a long-term deal. If the deal goes through, the Raiders would have only one draft pick in the first three rounds. Oakland picks fourth in the opening round and traded its third-round pick last year to New England for a pick used to draft offensive lineman Mario Henderson. |

It's official. The Oakland Raiders have reached agreement with cornerback DeAngelo Hall on a seven-year, $70 million contract that includes $24.5 million in guaranteed money, NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting. To acquire Hall, the Raiders will send a 2008 second-round pick and a 2009 fifth-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons now will have four of the top 48 selections in the upcoming draft. Hall is a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2005 and 2006), but he is nearly as well known for his outspoken demeanor. He clashed openly with former Falcons coach Bobby Petrino last season and was benched for a half after a sideline confrontation. DeAngelo Hall, CB Oakland Raiders Career statistics G/GS: 57/55 Tackles: 228 INT: 17 The Raiders wanted to sign Hall to a new contract before completing the deal with the Falcons in order to make sure they would have Hall for more than one year. Oakland will send a second-round pick, the 34th overall, in next month's draft and an additional pick to Atlanta in the deal. Oakland has already traded its third-round pick in this year's draft to New England for the pick used to select offensive lineman Mario Henderson in 2007, and its fifth-round pick to Denver for defensive tackle Gerard Warren. The Raiders could try to recoup some of those lost picks by trading either cornerback Fabian Washington or Stanford Routt. With Hall slated to start opposite standout cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in what should be one of the league's best cover duos, Oakland's top two picks from the 2005 draft will likely be relegated to the bench. Routt, the second-round pick in '05, moved past first-rounder Washington as the starter last season. Routt is better suited to playing nickel back, possibly making Washington the more likely candidate to be traded. The Raiders have been very active during the free-agency season after winning just four games last season and a league-low 19 the previous five years. Oakland has signed defensive tackles Tommy Kelly and William Joseph, receivers Javon Walker and Drew Carter, safety Gibril Wilson, offensive linemen Kwame Harris and Cornell Green to deals that could be worth more than $160 million. The Raiders also placed the exclusive franchise tag on Asomugha, guaranteeing him about $10 million next season, and re-signed running back Justin Fargas to a $12 million, three-year contract that guarantees him $6 million. |

im still trying to figure this one out....i mean i think it will work well for both teams considering the raiders need talent EVERYWHERE...and the falcons need to get all the Vick era players out of there so they can stop dwelling on what happened...and they need the picks...
what i do not get is 70 mil for hall, he is a good player but damn....it seems players are now getting way over paid for what talent they have....hall is a great talent but a locker room wrecker, i wonder if hall will be another moss and just not live up to anything until he gets out of oakland.... it sucks even more for the raider fans because they probably have the most loyal fan base in an era of bandwagon fans..and to the national media oakland is one step under detroit in being the place where athletes go to lose...and the players who have talent dont seem to want to use it....warren sapp did nothing there....randy moss did nothing there....is hall next....lets hope not

I thought the Giants were going to land him. But the questions surrounding him and his attitude appearantly turned of the Giants and they weren't going to part with the 2nd round pick and then pay him a ton of cash either.

The Raiders definately did a good job this off-season improving there defence, but there defence actually isn't that bad... They need more offensive weapons, so hopefully for Raider fans that Darren McFadden is it...

HA! Your nuts. I like Romo but Hell no. Thats not happening. Although We don't like to put pressure on the QB for some BS reason. We need to blitz more with our LB's. Burgess has to have another Probowl year too.
