The dumbest move Al Davis could make.
No word on who the next coach yet, but that could change sometime later today. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3617977 |

is anyone watching the press conference right now? This is different than what you normally see at a conference after a coach firing, Al Davis is putting on a bashing. This team is in shambles.

Davis needs to quit. Now. Ryan sucks too, yet Davis has a love affair with him. It's not Lane Kiffin's fault they're 5-15. Besides. Davis is too impatient.
I'd love to see Lane Kiffin in the NFL though. He has potential. |

The letter that Al Davis wrote Lane Kiffin has been published. Here's the entire letter.

Al Davis looks weird in that press conference...... I dont like the decision to hire an O-line coach to head coach the team. Wrong move once again...

Coordinators aren't the only ones qualified to be promoted to head coach a team. To say that position coaches wouldn't suit well as head coaches is a big generalization.
Cable was an offensive coordinator and head coach on the college circuit. Tony Sparano was the offensive line coach of the Cowboys last season and I think Bill Parcells was able to look past that to hire him. Andy Reid was an offensive line coach for years in Green Bay. It all comes down to experience and football knowledge. Check out this picture. Going into this season, 30 of the 32 head coaches in the league had lineages tracing back to Bill Walsh, Bill Parcells, and Marty Schottenheimer. (Lane Kiffin and Norv Turner are the exceptions) Last edited by nyG; 10-01-2008 at 10:51 PM. |
