MINNESOTA COACH'S SON TRANSFERS Minnesota announced today that Clint Brewster, the son of head coach Tim Brewster, is transferring. "Clint Brewster has decided to transfer," Tim Brewster said in a statement released by the university. "I respect and admire Clint's decision to further his education and play football elsewhere." The statement has an oddly detached tone, as if Tim Brewster were just talking about any redshirt freshman quarterback, and not his son. Neither Brewster spoke to reporters. It's not clear where Clint Brewster will enroll. He made a verbal commitment to Illinois before his dad got the Minnesota job, but then changed his mind to play for his dad. It's unlikely that he'd go to Illinois now, both because of potential family awkwardness and because the Illini have both a firmly entrenched starter in Juice Williams and a firmly entrenched backup in Eddie McGee. Brewster's best option may be to transfer to a I-AA school, where he could play without having to sit out a year. http://www.collegefootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm |
