Saints RB Reggie Bush appeared to set the tone for a major bounce-back campaign in 2008 when he committed to staying in New Orleans during the offseason so he could be around his teammates and work on improving his speed and strength. We hear, however, that there has been little evidence of a new and improved Bush thus far in the preseason after he struggled through a disappointing sophomore season in ’07. Sources say Bush still seems to be shuffling his feet behind the line of scrimmage and that he waits too long for holes to develop.

Seems like if you're from USC and a big dominate star, you tend to bust in the NFL...
Case in point: Mike Williams Matt Leinart Reggie Bush |

USc..fills these kids heads with dreams of granduer, but doesn't preach the necessary work to get there. Reggie Bush is a roleplayer; he'll be in on a lot of passing downs. But yes, he will be a bust. He just doesn't get it.

While Leinart's position in the draft may not warrant 'bust,' everyone including the Cardinals were quick to try and make them their franchise player. In that aspect, he could certainly be considered a bust. I've heard nothing but bad things about him, including that he's regressing at time goes along.

I think there may be something there to the USC link. Fact is they are a big play offense and with the success they have all of the time, it only makes sense for these young guys who aren't getting paid to not put in the extra time to work on the little things. In college they can get by on talent alone while you need every little edge in the pros.

All I know is that if Reggie Bush doesn't do well this season, teams should be aware about big play offensive players and that they don't tend to keep up the same progress in the NFL.

Leinart is most def. a bust so far. He was the 10th pick, and a team drafted him to be their franchise guy. But I agree, Bush might not be the biggest bust ever, becuase he does still contribute......but he will go down as a disappointment....and expensive one at that.
