Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have cut quarterback Chris Simms. Simms is not eligible for waivers, which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team he chooses. One team that may be interested in Simms’ services is Chicago, where starter Kyle Orton and backup Rex Grossman don’t inspire much confidence.

yay, we can now have the son as well! I hope the giants sign him, imo he's a pretty formidable QB and tough which is also important. I remember when he played with an inflamed appendix, now thats tough right there.

unnecessary. He knows he has no shot at starting, or even the backup job. We need a LB. I hear the Texans just cut Rosevelt Colvin

he could be our 3rd QB. I think he deserves a shot at it.

sure he does, but HE doesn't want to be a 3rd QB on a contending team with their QB situation all sorted out. He wants to be in Chicago, Minnesota, San Francisco, places like that. It's not worth his asking price either.

I don't see Chicago bailing out on Kyle Orton. The 49ers seem set on JT O'Sullivan, and Minnesota has faith in Jackson. I don't see Simms coming in unless somebody's main QB is hurt. Plus who would you rather have? Daunte Cullpepper or Chris Simms?

Competing for a starting job is almost out of the question right now. I'm talking about competing for a backup job to get in there and prove himself should there be an injury. All of those teams may be set for now, but disasters can happen.
And that is a great point that my brother actually brought up today. I wouldn't mind Daunte Culpepper coming to NY |

![]() I though Dallas was interested in trading for him not too long ago? Whatever happened to that I don't know, but now TB gets nothing for him as opposed to trading him for a late round draft pick. Chicago probably figures they have a large enough headache, as Simms isn't really head and shoulders above their two QBs as far as ability, thus creating an oh my God sized QB controversy if he signed there.

I think Francisco is the best place for him. Thats the best place he has any type of shot at starting for now. Although, IMO he isn't good enough to be a consistent starter in the league.

Honestly I think he will end up in Dallas. I have heard on the local radio shows that the Jones's were considering it.
