Atlanta Falcons NFL - Petrino resigns, now headed to Arkansas

Bobby Petrino has resigned as Falcons coach to take the Arkansas head coaching job.

So much for a reunion between him, and Brohm next season.

I wish him the best of luck in his new environment.

what a douche. i guess he realized he couldn't cut it at the pro level. you'd think he would have been professional enough to have at least honored his contract with arthur blank. all he did was put the falcons back another year in the rebuilding process. f*ck coach petrino.

Who knows what the Falcons are going to do now.

No one is in as bad of a situation as Cam Cameron.

cameron is a hell of a football coach. it's a little difficult for him to field a winning team with that rag-tag group of nobody's they want to call a football team, not to mention the fact they've been absolutely devastated by injuries this year. if cameron gets the shaft it'll be a shame.

I agree, it is a shame he didn't honor his contract. Hell, at least finish out the year. I feel bad for the players, they are caught in the middle of this train wreck.

that's the thing i can"t stand about football coaches in general (both at the pro level and college: nobody honors their contracts). if you don't want to be "held back" by a long term deal... DON'T SIGN THE DAMN CONTRACT!!!!

I wonder if he actually knew that he was coaching in the NFL (with three weeks of games left), and not the NCAA.

Wasn't he brought into this team to coach Vick to a better all around player. With Vick screwing up his football career and the Falcons sucking real bad without him, it kinda screwed up what Petrino wanted to do with the team. So he probably just needed top bail out of that system quick, I think it is dick of him but if the team is that bad then why not.

Definately a b**** move in Bobby Petrino's part. I mean he wasn't man enough to say it in front of Arthur Blank's face. So he did it by phone.

I would have left too, he and the veteran players couldn't see eye to eye, why stick around with nothing left to rebuild on when you could go back to college where your success has been? There's no reason to stay until the end of the season either. Better to get someone who could possibly still be there next year in position as soon as possible to see what you have and what you need to find. It was more like a favor to Arthur than a diss.
