OMG, Alex Smith is out at least for the time being because his surgically repaired shoulder is hurt..AGAIN...Michael Robinson is the temp. 2nd back up. I hate Alex Smith, you guys have no freaking idea....first he couldn't get the ball to his receivers, now he can't stay healthy, hopefully the 49er organization gets rid of him in 09.

I've said this since his rookie year. Even though his 'best season' was 2006, his skills weren't impressive to me and I said that the 49ers can't win with Smith as QB. I think it's time for SF fans to just give up on him. He's a bust, and he wasn't worthy of being #1 overall.

TK, the 49er fans have been over him since 06, it's management and their man love for the guy that keeps him in SF.

Man. Who'd win that QB competiton? Grossman//Smith... That'd be a nightmare for your team...

I hope Mike Martz can effeciently use Gore as a Marshall Faulk type back and integrate Vernon Davis more, since Martz hasn't done that since being an offensive coordinator. But he hasn't had a TE as good as Davis. I don't like the Isaac Bruce signing at all, he was really good once, but that was like 2 years ago.

i dont know if you can really blame alex smith for this more than you can blame the system he was drafted into.....i remember all the drama about if they were gonna take him or aaron rodgers.....it doesnt matter who they would have taken when he is on his back 60 times a year......it is to bad that no matter where alex smith goes after this, it wont be good because his confidence is probably next to nothing....but with that said...techincally, he is a bust
