Peyton. He's the real offensive coordinator of that team. He takes the entire play clock to adjust his protections and hot routes and is the coach on the field. Both have had the luxury of talented offensive lines. Peyton lost Tarik Glenn to retirement and Marvin Harrison for several games and still had a good season last year. Brady was shook during the Super Bowl and showed his lack of mobility when his protection breaks down. I'm not knocking Brady, he shows great poise in the pocket, but only when his line picks up every blitz.

Thats the same with every QB though. If the line doesn't pick up the blitz what are you going to do? I can't count how many times Peyton just falls down when the blitz is coming instead of trying to do something. Brady will stand there and take the hit. Niether QB is a great runner so they are not going to scramble like Vick but I think Brady's poise is better then Mannings in those type of situations. And I seriously don't think Brady was SHOOK during the superbowl. He was getting rocked all game but still managed to not panic and lead them down with the TD pass to Moss to take the lead. He had no choice in the end but to bomb it to Randy Moss but they were good throws. Im not taking anything away from the Giants, they played great defense and they are the champions. But lets not forget, they are one Eli Manning scramble and one fluke catch from Tyree away from losing.

The david tyree catch was on 3rd down so they had one more down after that... The crucial play of the game in my opinion is the missed interception by Asante Samuel, if he catches that instead of worrying to stay in bounds the patriots win.

One thing I notice about Peyton is his "happy feet" when he's in the pocket. Brady tends to stand in, make his reads, then step up and make the throw.
As for the Super Bowl, I wouldn't really put it that way, as much as you can say the Giants would've lost without a "fluke" play, you could say they were a 4th and 1 away from losing the game. You could say that the Pats were a 49-yard field goal away from a tie game if not for Belichick going for it on 4th and 13. You just can't do that with football, anything is possible. As for Brady not being shook, I have to go ahead and say he was rattled from the 20-something hits he took. Watching the game in the 2nd half when it zoomed in on Brady pre-snap, I thought saw something in his eyes that told me he was losing confidence in his line to protect him. I can recall one of my boys remarking that he just didn't look the same. I can't find any pre-snap pics right now, but here's one that kind of shows what i mean by "shook"

Im still not buying Brady was "shook"
The o-line may have been but he appeared calm and cool just like always. Which is how that last TD to Moss was setup. |
