nfllogo Football 101, Ask And Receive Answers

Since there are so many people, men and women who don't really understand the nuances of football I thought having a thread where you can ask questions, from the simplest to the very complicated and get the answers you need right here would be awesome.

People are always seeking or wanting info on things they see or hear about in the NFL so here's your chance to find out.

If you're wanting to know the width of the football (160 feet or 53 1/3 yards) or you've heard that a football field is 300 feet long when in reality it is 360 feet long or 120 yds.(can't forget the endzone, it is part of the field), or how many of you know that the NFL field numbers are 6 feet high and 4 feet wide. If you want to know what a cover 2 is, or where the 4 6 defense originated from or heaven forbid you want to try and understand the salary cap just ask and we'll try and answer all your questions.

Cruz, this section is meant more for what I mention and not really for what people "think" is right or wrong with players.

But what's wrong with Alex Smith is that he has thrust into the NFL starting QB position way before he was ready, and the line he had was banged up and of course we had Kwame Harris on the right side that didn't help one bit. What the staff on the 49ers failed to do was put Smith in situations like what he had at Utah, bootlegs, rollouts and use the shotgun more and not only on 3rd downs and not taking the snaps under center all the time.

One of the reasons Cutler looked good was the play of Brandon Johnson, it also helps that Cutler has a cannon for an arm.

Cutler also has top tier protection, Smiths offensive line is sad at best
