I hate to say it but I think the Giants have a damn good chance of a repeat. I know its still early but they have been looking very good the last two games. I think they are the only complete all round team this year. They got the offense and D. If they stay healthy they will be in the superbowl again

I disagree and this is coming from a giants fan. I don't have a sense of security in our linebacking core and we have to see if our Dbacks have the same type of consistency as they did during our playoff run. Webster and Ross are good, but I just want to see more of it against a better WR group.

Kind of early to jump on the bandwagon here. They have looked good, but they've also played a horrible Redskins team(that week, they were), and a really bad Rams team.
I think they will do good this season, and I guess I could see it if you end up getting a watered down NFC playoff scene, with the likes of New Orleans(pretender) and Minnesota; Dallas/Philly being the only threat there. They'd have a shot if that was the situation, but it still wouldn't shock me if they don't make the playoffs, and the Eagles and Panthers snatch the Wild Card. |

I think the giants on paper are probably the second best team in the NFC behind the cowboys, but that doesnt mean shit when your the best team on paper and and lose a home playoff game. The thing with the Giants they know how to getup for those big games, every game was big for them in the second half, all the way through the playoffs. Their offense is or can be as good as anyones in the league and they probably have the best run offense with Jacobs/Ward/Bradshaw. All they do is open up the passing lanes and Plax is one of the best in the league. But the unheralded part of that offense is the Oline. You could argue that they may be the best Oline in football.....2 years ago they were the worst lol/

I still disagree, you can be enamored with the offense all you want. Yes, they have a very good offense, especially due to Eli's confidence increasing. But that still doesn't explain how we are better defensively than last year. Cuz we're not, when you lose 22 sacks your not better than the year before. Mitchell and Wilson were also big role players on that team and they are gone. We are good, but we aren't a lock to go to the Super Bowl.

Chubz you're a little too confident for my taste and cruzg you're too pessimistic. You guys have to find some middle ground here. The G-Men will be there in January. And you have to stop looking in the past, because they're moving on just fine with the free agent losses. The pressure is still there and the backers, especially Clark have been playing at the the high level that's needed.
I love the fact that we don't have a completion to a tight end yet this year. We have fast, possession guys and Toomer is still a tweener #1/#2 WR. Remember he used to be our #1 with Hilliard as #2. The run game is doing great with that 6th blocker, and if we have to send him on a route then so be it. Last edited by nyG; 09-15-2008 at 08:02 PM. |

not to mention, they have lost a few good players but the other teams are hurting as well...and even after Osi and Stray are gone, the Defense still looks good, i wouldnt rule out a repeat...or atleast another appearance in the super bowl

The Giants definitely have a good team. However, I don't think they'll be able to replicate that same sort of momentum they had towards the end of the year last year that really propelled them in the postseason. I do feel, however, that they are a shoe-in for the playoffs.
