1. Cowboys
Playing some of the best football in the NFL at the moment but questions on defense are still there. While the points weren't put up on the board like they were last week, the secondary needs to improve. 2. Eagles The Eagles played incredible defense and exploited a vulnerable Steelers offensive line to pummel Roethlisberger into submission. The injuries on offense are worrisome, none more so than the injury of Brian Westbrook. 3. Giants The Giants can't allow bad teams to keep games close and especially can't allow them to force OT if they want to repeat. However, they still put the W on the board. With such a tough division it remains to be seen how they'll stack up against the other two top dogs. 4. Steelers The game is won and lost in the trenches and the Steelers offensive line seems to have been replaced with a set of turnstiles. If they want to play Steeler football, run and play action pass, they need to fix the problems up front. It won't get any easier against the Ravens defense either. 5. Titans The Titans defense has been smothering so far this year but the quality of their opponents has been lacking to say the least. However, in a division in which every other team is plagued with injuries and inconsistency, the Titans may be in a good position to grab a division title. 6. Bills The Bills were the worst team on the field for 3.5 quarters of football, but somehow managed to remember they were a good team and not the Bills of old. Trent Edwards is having a breakout year, and their defense is playing well. However, they still need more production out of the running game. 7. Chargers It doesn't matter that the Jets scored on them the way they did, they annihilated the Jets defense and started getting things back on track. LT's foot injury may still be troublesome but with Rivers having a career year it may not be as important to have him healthy as in years past. 8. Broncos The Broncos are 3-0 despite what seems to be a complete and utter lack of defense. Allowing a team to gain over 500yds of offense is not going to win you championships and the luck is going to run out eventually. The arm of Cutler however may still be their saving grace. 9. Panthers Mistakes for a second week in a row stifled the Panthers offense, and unfortunately that's not acceptable against good defenses. However, the Panthers defense has been playing well to this point in the season only allowing 15 points per game against opposing offenses. The offense needs to find a rhythm soon. 10. Packers Despite good production the Packers offense was unable to find the endzone most of the game. In their first test they came up short, allowing too many yards on defense and this week they weren't able to just outscore their opponent. 11. Redskins Another close win for the Redskins and they are building confidence. Unfortunately for them they're going into a tough two weeks ahead, on the road against Dallas and Philly. If they can come out on the other side with at least one win they would be very lucky. 12. Buccaneers John Gruden and Brian Griese managed to get out of Chicago with a win even though Griese threw 3 completions to the wrong team. However, throwing the ball 67 times is not a recipe for success in the NFL, even if they didn't allow a sack. It doesn't get any easier next week against the Packers. 13. Vikings Gus Ferotte made the plays Travaris Jackson just never could, the routine ones. Their defense is playing solid and it snagged them a win against the Panthers despite only putting up 13 points on offense. Childress may have saved his job by starting Ferotte, much to the chagrin of some Vikings fans. 14. Cardinals Kurt Warner has been playing inspired football in the past few weeks, making the plays Leinart never could. The defense can't allow teams to stay in games and the offense needs to be more consistent but that shouldn't be much of a problem against the hapless Jets this week. 15. Jaguars A rocky start but they got back to what they do best, pound the football. However their major concern, injuries, aren't going away any time soon and they'll need to get healthy if they want to contend in their division. 16. Colts 17. 49ers 18. Ravens 19. Bears 20. Patriots 21. Saints 22. Seahawks 23. Falcons 24. Dolphins 25. Raiders 26. Jets 27. Browns 28. Bengals 29. Texans 30. Lions 31. Chiefs 32. Rams |

Eagles over Giants?
Colts out of the top 15? Pats out of top 20? hardly. cruzg's point is that you're a big homer. The Panthers aren't a top 10 team and won't be playing January football. |

not only that Chubz, but this was a team fighting to salvage their season. They needed that game badly to avoid 0-3, which is why you saw the Dolphins put it all out on the Pats, and the Vikings and Jags play well too. I was never worried that the Giants could have actually lost, but more concerned that they would screw themselves over. If anyone has followed the G-men, they know that it used to be very characteristic of them to lose those tight games.
Since last year they have really proven to be different, and Eli is establishing himself as one of the great clutch performers the league ever saw. You need to win those games where you play in the face of adversity, take a look at last season, with the Cowboys winning that MNF game against the Bills and also look at the Pats vs. the Eagles and Ravens in the regular season. I wouldn't read too much into that game last week, and despite what many think this bye week could be really beneficial. Last edited by nyG; 09-24-2008 at 05:45 PM. |

First you say your only going by this year's achievements and then the Vikings beat the Panthers and you still have them ranked higher??? That is just illogical. I understand the eagles ahead cuz they played a heck of a game against the steelers and I also really like the Titans and Bills position. But the Panthers are a middle of the pack team.
