First of all, I'd like to give a big thanks PGP for basically, everything haha. Thanks to you all, my car is running in better shape, and I can stop worrying.
But, there's something I need help with my anti-freeze Or choosing it. I read up recently on GM's dex-cool, saying it will pro-long the vehicle's longevity. Ironically, it shortens it and have been blowing gaskets everywhere. Now, From what I hear, Dex cool is recommended, but isn't necessarily required? Is there anyone here, that has experimented with any other anti-freeze and got better results? A bit paranoid here, and don't want to blow my intake gaskets . Haha, I'm over the 100,000 mi warranty, so help me out! Oh, by the way, I live in FL. So could I get away with 50% water and some waterwetter? Last edited by yungflo; 07-12-2008 at 08:28 PM. |

make sure you get a coolant that can mix with anything...its usually yellow..it will say right on the bottle "mixes with any color antifreeze"
make sure you do that or just get plain dexcool....if you get the old school stuff and mix it with the dex cool then you will have a nice milky sludge and your car will over heat and you might have to replace your radiator....just make sure you get the right stuff...just ask the auto parts guys and they will give you the right stuff...and dex cool is a better coolant...it takes less maintanence and is usable for twice as long as the standard stuff...
