How long would you guys wait?

A local guy on H-T has a 92 integra and his engine took a dump on him. It was using about a quart of oil a day.

He couldn't find anyone locally to swap an engine in his car and a shop was going to charge a little over a grand just for labor to swap an engine in for him.

I don't like doing work outside of my regular job. I don't have the extra time and with my hockey scheduel I really don't have the energy, I like to rest on my days between games.

I felt sorry for the guy and told him that if he supplied all the parts i needed and a new engine I'd do it for 500.

The dude agrees. He has an engine lined up and I start working on removing his engine on a sat afternoon. It's out and ready for the new motor Sun morning.


The guy supplying the engine flakes on him so Mon. morning he has no motor. It takes him 15 days to finally decide to have his engine rebuilt. I'm keeping his car in my garage so the wife is on my ass everyday that his car is sitting in our garage and she can't park in there. I'll be damned if the sol is going to be parked anywhere but the garage.

Anyway, once he gets me the engine I have it ready two days later.

When I get it installed his ass is playing around under the hood and he has no buisness under the hood. He some how lodges the hood prop under the battery holder and puts his palm on the radiator to get some leverage on pulling it out.

The asshole snaps the goose neck off of the radiator. So now I have to change out his damn radiator to get the shit out of my garage. It takes him 3 days to bring a new radiator and now I've got another hour in this car.

He wants to pick the car up but he has only paid me 150 at this point. I inform him that the way a repair works....You pay in full or I keep the car. Period.

He gives me this big long sob story about how he needs his car and bills are tight. If I knew he didn't have the money up front I would have never done the fucking car.

I tell him to bring me the title to his car so he does and I give him his car.

It's been about a month since I started working on his car, he's had it now for two weeks and I've only gotten one fifty out of him.

He is supposed to pay another fifty tomorrow.

I want my money in full in 30 days from the day he picked it up.

How long would you guys give before you took the title to a title loan place and get the extra money he owes you?

if it wasn't for the fact that I need 150 to have my turbo rebuilt and 200 to have my car re-tuned i would have never wanted to do the swap for him.

Fuck him. I wanted my car done before the baby came. Now it's probably going to be months before I can get her back on the road.

I don't have the kind of patients for that kind of stuff I would give him a week or 2 and that’s it.

What kind of shop takes payments?

I don't know anybody in the states that does it that way. It's always Cash, Credit, or get the fuck away

I think I may give him another two weeks but after that he'd better get ready to pay the title loan place in full for his car will get towed off

Well question..how are you going to get a title loan on the car if the title isn't in your name? And if you put a lein on the car you still can't get a title loan on it..it has to be clean and clear. If I was you and he don't pay you the money, sign the title over to yourself and sell the damn thing, lol!

You can put a lien on the title for unpaid repairs.

That sounds like what josh is going to do

I would call him and tell him if it is not done you are going to charge him storage fees for the two weeks, and then put a lien on it

I have a signed title. All I have to do to get it in my name is fill in the rest of the title myself and go to the DMV. Then it will be in my name
