Since hurricane Ike has come into play gas has been skyrocketing here.
South Carolina is on average 5.59 a gallon, and FL average being at 6.00. Only about two stations in my town had gas left by the end of the day yesterday. I put gas in two times yesterday the first time I paid 4.59, and only three hours later I topped the tank off paying 4.89 a gallon. Is this just an east coast problem, or is everyone seeing a jump. I have heard that once the stations run out, that's it for a while? I am not educated in how things like this work, but how can you charge right at 5 a gallon when the gas you had was meant to be at 3 something, it's not like the stations are having to go out and buy more at higher costs, they already paid for the gas. If that isn't price gouging I don't know what is. Are these states going to enforce the anti-gouging laws? |

![]() Gas has gone up about .20 here. I expect it to be in the upper $5.00 range by the end of the weekend.

See thats what I don't understand..your in Texas and they say the whole reason for the surge in prices is becasue of the oil places in Texas. So why does your gas prices stay so low and places like SC, FL, AL, and VA going so high! Has anyone ran into the problem of not being able to find any stations with gas? |

Local reserves are running out, so it'll rise about 10 cents every 8 hours or so. On my road, about 2 gas stations have closed b/c idiots last night 'freaked' and went and bought gas ALL night.

NJ has large refineries. Thats why we dont get super big spikes. Because of the hurricane the price gouging station owners will be out in full force
