Look Poem I recieved! - The Postgame Pub

Okay I recieved this poem as a email today and I thought I would share it with you guys. Is is just me or does this thing make no sense! I didn't attatch the whole email just the poem part, but it is a poem from a dad to his son a Marine, about the war in Iraq.

We are NOT fighting for our freedom, so why say that we are?
I really love the pictures they used, lol! SUV's support terrorism, LMAO!

I wanted to get your feelings on this, I was after reading this almost pissed that it was sent to me...call me non patriotic or whatever..but I just ain't buying it!

Also at the bottom is what the son wrote back to the dad!

THE MARINE

We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around.

Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I'll give my life,
So you can live the American way.

I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
and protest in our streets.

But still I fight on,
I don't fuss, I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people
Who is doing your time.

I'm harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I'm the immortal soldier,
I'm a U.S. MARINE!

So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown.
Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you've won

Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.

But when your time comes,
Do what I've done.
For if you stand up for freedom,
You'll stand when the fight's done

Hey Dad,
Do me a favor and label this 'The Marine' and send it toeverybody on your email list.Even leave this letter in it.I want this rolling all over the US ;I want every home reading it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it. So can you please send this for me? I would but my email time isn't that longand I don 't have much time anyway.
You know what Dad?I wondered what it would be like to truly understandwhat JFK said in His inaugural speech.'When the time comes to lay down my life for my country,I do not cower from this responsibility.I welcome it.' Well, now I know.And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight forthe place that God has made for my home. I love you all and I miss you very much.I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby,but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing,I will be coming home soon.Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too.

The poem doesn't do anything for me.

People who say the war in iraq is for our freedom and a war against terrorism need to be beaten to death by large groups of people who have lost their job due to outsourcing.

The troops go there and do what they are told to do. The military does not pay soldiers to think.

I wish for all of them to return home quickly and safely. I see no further need for us over there. I say we just leave the bee's nest alone and let them work out their issues of leadership themselves.

However i beleive that in the future when the history books look back at those who lost their lives in iraq, they will not be looked at as losing thier lives for a just and nobel cause. I think that history will look back on the war in iraq as an act of tyranny commiteed by the Bush Administratoin and the other sheep in DC who stand to gain a profit or profit for their special interest groups by taking controll of iraq.

Glory cannot be found when you life is lost for controll of oil in the ground.

Josh are you saying that we should blame terrorism for the outsourcing? and the war being for our freedom I have not heard anyone say that I have heard people say that it is for thier freedom.....

As for the poem....from my view I think it is great...I mean I support my troops and everything that they do and you cant really go around and say that you support our troops and not support what they are doing

LOL...no terrorism has nothing to do with outsourcing. It just gives people who would normally be on unemployment something to do

The poem refers to it being for our freedom... thats one thing that got me all fired up about it. We used terrorism in America and giving them their freedom as a cover up for reasons we are really over there.

As for dieing for your country...when you sign up for the military you go into it knowing that you may be sent overseas, so I don't think you should be able to complain about leaving. If you were drafted yeah I can see you making a fuss, but NOT if it was your choice to be in the military.

Sorry I see what your saying with the first section of the poem but I think they are stating in general that the marines and other military fight for our freedom

the poem is alright...but as a soldier...we are not over in iraq to fight for America's freedom...we are fighting for oil and greed. Our freedom was fought for long ago...and won so...people need to realize that we are not over there for freedom...they just say that to make it sound "nice"
