Xbox Drops 500 Limited Edition GTA IV 360s ![]() Microsoft added to the buzz leading up to the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto IV by dropping a limited run of 500 GTA-branded Xbox 360 Elite systems and a briefcase full of peripherals today. We got our hands on number 170 out of 500. More pics after the jump. The guys at Xbox took an Elite system and, using automotive-quality paint, touched up the sides of the 360 with the GTA IV box art and a serial number. Not a bad way to welcome the first title in the franchise that didn’t drop as a Sony exclusive. Rockstar is also producing exclusive episodes for 360 users available for download this fall. Hopefully it involves Bill Gates and Warren Buffet rolling up on GTA IV’s featured hitter Niko Bellic. The game finally drops on April 29. Unfortunately, the limited run of GTA IV 360s ain’t available in stores. |

Twenty new screenshots for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV were released on Thursday, but with less than six weeks until release, in-game action screens are strangely still missing.
The newly released screens by way of the game's official website seemingly depict cut sequences only, as have other images released so far. "The graphics in-game are hot," comments senior GamePro editor Chris Morell, "so I'm not sure what's up." Indeed, several recent previews have noted the more realistic-looking visuals of IV when compared to previous Grand Theft Auto games. It is common practice in the video game industry to promote the best-looking game shots, which are almost always pre-rendered cut scenes. Though usually, in-game shots are also released as a game's launch date nears. Grand Theft Auto IV arrives on Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 29. The sandbox action game is rated Mature and carries an MSRP of $59.99. |

National winners will meet regional winners at the launch event and will have the chance to compete for $30,000 in prizes. RockStar has posed the question, "Where did Niko Bellic hide his lock box?" and you'll need to text one of five answers in order to have a chance at winning. Here are your options:
![]() A total of four (4) national winners will be selected at random from all correct mobile and online entries, and will each be awarded: Roundtrip airfare and ground transportation to "Liberty City" for themselves and a guest One hotel room for two nights Two gift bags courtesy of GameStop and Grand Theft Auto IV Two hundred and fifty dollars ($250) in spending money One key to open a lock box at the April 28th launch event On April 28 the lucky national and regional winners will get the chance to find out if their key is the one that will open Niko's lock box which contains 38 envelopes valued from $100 to $10,000. Alleged GTA IV multiplayer screens show dudes, guns, vehicles ... explosions
from joystiq.com Xboxworld.nl pinned up some alleged screens of Grand Theft Auto 4 multiplayer today, before the powers that be ripped 'em right down. Thing is, the ol' kibosh just ain't what it used to be, and sure enough, the images have resurfaced allovertheplace. Couple these glimpses with rumor of 15 multiplayer modes and 16-player support, and, um, wow ... who even needs those DLC episodes? GO PS3!!!! |

GTA IV Liberty City map sneaks online
from joystiq.com GTAGaming posted several images of a map for Grand Theft Auto IV's streets and subway system. As for the authenticity of the Liberty City map, well ... that's a whole other issue. The six images are of varying clarity and one image even shows the PS3 controls for the game. A few things raised red flags for us with the images, like one image showing Liberty City "neighbourhoods" -- with a "u." Although this map could be for an international version of the game, it still seems odd that a map depicting an alternate version of New York City would spell neighborhood in an un-American fashion. Another issue is some awkwardly constructed sentences in the region details (like the first sentence in the Alderney description). We're sure people may find other things to make their spidey sense tingle, but check it out and make your own conclusions about authenticity. neighbourhoods is UK's spelling FYI..--Ed. |
