Maddux...hm. The name sounds somewhat familiar. Bounced around a few clubs, never did much, and is out of the game now, right?

for some reason, this thread isnt even listen on google anymore. I could just be updating the index for the search terms. Jerome if this persists over the next couple of days, the best way to fix it, is to create a new thread and move all the posts over there,

hahah. i haven't updated this in a while, but we're working on the huge prospect list, the updated mock draft, as well as the ridiculous coverage for next years draft. i expect this year's mock to merely be a placeholder to the future coverage, but we'll still have plenty for everybody to check out for the time being.

so we will have a fresh mock for you guys this weekend; but after perusing the internet on this beautiful three day weekend, i've found there to be some horrible information regarding this upcoming draft from every outlet imaginable. before we get to the mock though, let me dispel some of these atrocities of mock draftery (it's my word... so STFU!):

1. Pedro Alvarez WILL be the top pick in this draft.
For the last f***ing time, teams select the best player available in the mlb draft. This draft is unlike the other major sports, in that it makes absolutely no sense to draft for need considering the following: the draft is a crapshoot at best, most of these guys will never make it above AA ball, and there's usually only one or two "sure things" on any given year. This said, a teams depth chart or future contracts have no bearing whatsoever on what selection a team makes. this said, alavarez was, and still is the consensus "best player available", and hence will be selected with the top choice in the draft.

2. Brian matusz IS NOT being considered for the top pick in the draft.
Major league scouting departments view Matusz as little more than a middle of the rotation guy at best. He has absolutely no ceiling, and while he is polished and will be on the fast track to the major leagues, teams do not spend top overall selections on future career .500 innings eaters (that's what free agency is for). For the love of god self-proclaimed draftologists, actually watch these players before spewing your "expert analysis" dribble all over the blog-o-sphere. You're squandering bandwidth and polluting our beloved "intra-web".

3. SEE BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE RANT

That is all.
