Camby 'Insulted' By Trade Jul 17, 2008 9:49 AM EST Center Marcus Camby made it known on Wednesday that he felt insulted by the trade that sent him from the Nuggets to the Clippers on Tuesday, according to The Rocky Mountain News. "Blindsided, distraught, disrespected. All those adjectives. I definitely feel insulted," he said in a telephone interview. Denver moved Camby to Los Angeles without getting anything in return, allowing them to cut roughly $10 million from their cap number. "When I first heard about the trade, I felt like I was the scapegoat after all our past first-round exits and failures and lack of defense," Camby said. "I felt it was them telling me that I was no longer wanted, and I was the cause of everything that went wrong the last couple years on this team." "I'm still in disbelief. I'm still in shock. I still can't believe this happened."

I understand where he is coming from. He isn't just some scrub that you waive. Denver made a big mistake and will be even worse this season.

yes Darius i agree with you on this one. he was a defensive player of the year and this is how they treat him? wow. wud be insulted too.

SO was mutumbo a defensive player of the year that is. NBA owners hate going over the lux tax and thats where they were headed if Camby was kept. He is in the twilight of his career with his best days behind him

so they avoid the luxery tax but in the process become alot worse on defense and a worse team overall. Great job.

if they kept him he would basically have cost them 20 mill a year lol camby at 24 wasnt worth that he sure as heck and worth it at 30 something

and ben wallace...i dont care if he was the defensive player of the year at one point and time...people need to stop dwelling on what players were 5 years ago...Camby is a good player but is no where near worth the money he is getting.....the nuggets are going to save money and save more next year if the clippers pick up the option on him...i do think he could have been worth atleast a first rounder but i just think the nuggets want to start saving money.....you need to remember that you will see alot of teams do this type of thing so they can be apart of the big free agent year of 2010.....teams will try to clear as much cap space as they can so they can throw all sorts of money at a superstar

No where near the money he is making?! 8 million this season and 7.6 next season. I'd say thats a GREAT deal for the DPOY.

yes no where near the money...13 rebounds, 9 points, and 3 blocks per game....good stats...but he is 34 and his ppg are steadily declining each year....was about 13ppg 2 years ago....he is getting older and im not sure that he is a solid investment

It's not like Denver wanted to trade Camby. They just don't want to pay luxury taxes. If they could have found someone to take K-Mart or Nene off their hands, they would have. Hell teams probably don't even want AI at this point. The only two tradeable players they had were Camby and Melo....they went with the 34 year old.

I'm sure they realized they were going to get worse, but they have to rebuild anyways and Camby wasn't part of their long-term future.

reports said that they would be interested in gettign rid of AI but they would be able to get what they want for him and other teams dont want to pick up his salary...and the Nuggets would have to pay a luxury tax if the did deal AI

13 rebounds and 3 blks per and the dpoy award is worth alot more then 8 million bucks man.

DUde he was a DPOY years back KG was last season . He is past his prime. Should someone snag up Alonzo MOurning he has more DPOY than CAMby hell pay him 19 mill to. CAmby is past what he can do . THe nuggests have no championship hoes so why pay twice the players salary to keep around makes no sense man zero.

we are not talking about 20 mill here. He makes 8 million. And even LESS next season. And he should have been DPOY this season over KG. They just had to give KG something cause of the turnaround.

yeah when a player makes a team that was one of the worst defensively and turns them into a top team defensively thats nothing. LOL KG is more all around defense, all Camby can do is weak side help on his shot blocks. He benefitted from AI gambling on the wing so much and got help defense blocks on smaller guards. His numbers are inflated and still bad lol he is not worth the 16 mill then sorry.
