John Czarnecki of FoxSports.com writes that "the word on the street" is that Jake Long doesn't want to play for the Dolphins.

As usual, Czar buries this big story as a casual aside. This could be a negotiating ploy (Long doesn't need to be the first pick, he can wait), but it's interesting nonetheless. Czar hears that the next name on Miami's list is not Chris Long.

Mel Kiper: I talked to Jake Long and he sounded like he was excited about playing for Parcells. Parcells sees some Jumbo Elliot in Long. I think he would be very excited to be a Dolphin. I would be shocked if that were true.

The thing is that no one really wants to give up so much for that #1 pick when they know that they will likely still be able to get the player that they want.

Don't get me wrong bro.. I think Chris Long will be a complete NFL stud, I just truly believe that Miami needs more than just one super stud.

that's not what he said today on the jim rome show. i don't think it matters though: it seems the solid, yet unspectacular vernon gholston might be the top pick. what a crappy year to have the top pick.
