NFL.com's fantasy football blog By Michael Fabiano | NFL.com Friday, July 25, 2008 Favre to report to training camp NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that Brett Favre plans to report to training camp this weekend. That decision seems to indicate that Favre will in fact be in a football uniform this season, though it might not be green and yellow. So what does Favre's return mean in the world of fantasy football? Brett Favre, QB,Green Bay Packers 2007 statistics Comp: 356 Att: 535 Yards: 4,155 TDs/INTs: 28/15 To answer that question, let's look at the three most likely Favre-related scenarios for the 2008 season. 1. Favre remains in Green Bay Call me crazy, but I can't see a scenario where Favre will return to Titletown in anything but a starting role. That would decimate the value of Aaron Rodgers, who would be back in familiar territory -- second on the Packers depth chart behind a future Hall of Famer. But even in this situation, I don't think Favre is a lock to duplicate last season's immense totals. Let's not forget that in the two seasons before 2007, Favre threw for 38 touchdowns and 47 interceptions. In fact, Drew Bledsoe, Kerry Collins and Jake Plummer all had more fantasy points than Favre in 2005. There's also a little matter of the Madden curse. The most infamous hex in all of sports, athletes who have been on the cover of the Madden video game have either been injured or seen their numbers fall across the board. I still see Favre as a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in Green Bay. After all, he has a ton of talent on offense and the protection of a stout offensive line. But I wouldn't at all be shocked if old No. 4 turns out to be a disappointment. 2. Favre is traded to Tampa Bay This could be a detrimental move for Favre's value, as the Buccaneers don't have the same sort of talent on their offensive line or in their passing game. Favre would go from a team with Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones and Donald Lee to one with Joey Galloway, Antonio Bryant, Ike Hilliard, Michael Clayton and Alex Smith. The past has also proven that when Favre feels like he has to make plays on his own, he tends to throw into coverage more often. That could lead to an increase in interceptions. The one advantage Favre would have is a cake walk of a schedule. None of the teams from the NFC South ranked better than 17th (Carolina) in pass defense last season. Furthermore, opponents from the NFC North (which is the NFC division on the team's schedule) has one team (Green Bay) in the top 12 against the pass in 2007. That contest would pit Favre against his former team (Week 4, Sept. 28). The fact that he would remain in a West Coast offense is also a positive, but I'd still see Favre as no more than a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback. 3. Favre is traded to the N.Y. Jets The Jets have a much improved offensive line and a nice duo of wide receivers in Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery, but Favre would face the New England Patriots twice a season and a schedule that includes eight games against teams that finished in the top 10 in pass defense last season. He would also be in a completely different conference and have to learn the intracacies of the Jets' offense. Overall, I'd still see Favre as little more than a low-end No. 1 fantasy option if he lands with the Men in Green. |

he already said Tampa is too hot and the Jets already said that they don't have interest. MY personal best case scenario would be he stays in GB on the bench.
