Although both of those players are great I don't feel they are the NFL's best. My vote would go to Ed Reed or maybe a Jason Taylor type of player.(DL/DE) *shrugs*

Hell why not even a mention of Julius Peppers, pretty much a consensus top 3 defensive player by most owners.

Peppers??? C'mon Brandon... Peppers is a good player, but to put him in with the greats is premature IMO.

How can Briggs come up when he's not even the best player at his position, on his team? It would be like mentioning a team that didn't win their division as the best team in the conference IMO.

I don't think Briggs will put out the production people think he will if he is on another defense without Urlacher being keyed in on, allowing him to make more plays.

i think an argument could easily be made that lance briggs was the best defensive player on that great bears d.

You may be right, but IMO Urlacher has elite intelligence, speed, and coverage ability since he used to be a safety. We will probably find out this season, if Briggs ends up getting traded. I think Briggs is an excellent player, but Urlacher is the best MLB in the league, and a top 3 defensive player overall.

There's a lot of good choices, but you can't really argue against Bailey/Urlacher not being named.
