NFL-Each position: Who is the greatest ever?
Like the title says....
In each position who do you think is the best of all time. But the one thing is don't base this on numbers or Hall of Fame.... Just who in your opinion was the best and most fun to watch. QB- RB- FB- WR- TE- CB- SS- FS- MLB- OLB- DL- OL- K-(lol) p-(lol) And anyone else you would like to add.... ex: Special teams player. ie. punt returner/kickoff etc. etc..... Mine: QB- John Elway- I will fight to the death on this.. The best ever IMO. He also was so good, he could win a game no matter the score. RB- Barry Sanders- Bad ass and fun to watch FB- Larry Csonka - What a mean S.O.B. WR- Steve Largent/Jerry Rice- The purest of WR's. The best Route runners and true students of the game. TE- Shannon Sharpe - IMO the greatest and hardest working TE in the game ever. CB- Deion Sanders- By far the greatest and most exciting to watch. Period!(you say different I will ban you):P ![]() SS- Roy Williams- I just think he is a game changer... FS- Ronnie Lot - What a stud. He was a Roy Williams that could cover almost as good as Deion. MLB- Dick Butkus- No need to say anything.. He is just a God on the field. OLB- L. Taylor- He defined the position. DL- Charles Hayley- What a Hoss... He was so fun to watch. OL- Larry Allen- The strongest and most dominating lineman ever. K- Jason Elam- His record speaks for itself. p- Who cares....LOL

Most of mine will be players who played in the last 20 years; sorry, I am not very football history savvy.
QB: Peyton Manning: He is pretty much the prototypical QB. The only thing he doesn't have is the ability to make big plays with his feet, but if there was an Einstein of football, he would certainly be it. RB - Barry Sanders: Jim Brown could get this award if he had played a full career, but Barry Sanders was absolutely phenomenal, even without ever having a good line, offense, or team period. He was the most electrifying player I have ever seen. FB - Daryl Johnston: His career was cut short, but he lead blocked for an RB who now holds every important career record, for all of his best seasons. Great receiver out of the backfield. He was the man, and is often overlooked concerning why Emmitt was so great. WR - Jerry Rice: His records will likely never be broken; he was the undisputed best receiver of all time. Some may have been a little more talented since then, but unfortunately those headcases haven't used their potential for any significant amout of time. TE - Shannon Sharpe: The most athletic TE of all time, he reminded me of a Terrell Owens; the best combination of speed and strength, except he didn't destroy teams and drop multiple, crucial, gimme passes. CB - Deion: He is the quintessential shutdown corner. His career numbers do not reflect his greatness; unlike with Champ today, QBs in Deion's day did not throw to him, period. He was also extremely adroit as a punt returner. SS - Ronnie Lott: Yes, he played this position; I couldn't think of any full time SSs' that were clearly elite. FS - Ed Reed: He combines the hard hitting of Roy Williams and magnetic attraction to the ball of Ronnie Lott. MLB - Brian Urlacher: He can pressure the QB, cover WR/TEs, and stop the run as good as or better than anybody in the league; he has no flaws in his game. Very intelligent as well. OLB - LT: He was the man; it says a lot when somebody who has the best season ever by an offensive player has the same initials, can't dethrone him and has to put a "2" suffix after his initials. He was simply a monster; ask Joe Theismann :p DL - Reggie White: He was the best DE ever; he had insane speed and strength for a DL. He could either get around, or put you on your ass; either way he was inexorably going to get to your QB at some point, and there is nothing you can do to stop him. OL - Larry Allen: Could bench about 700 pounds, need I say more? Oh yeah, he was an integral part of the line which blocked for the most prolific RB of all time. K - Vander....er, Vinatieri: Vanderjagt had a chance of this, until he had a complete mental and emotional breakdown at the end of his career. The best clutch kicker of all time has to get this spot; just about all good kickers have had a couple seasons near 90% accuracy; nobody has done it consistently. P - Mat BcBriar :p He did average 48 yards per last year :) |

QB: Montana. In 10 years, Brady.
RB: Walter WR: Rice TE: Shannon Sharpe OL: Larry Allen, although I almost went with Jackie Slater. Actually, one is a G and the other is a T, so, both. K: Vientieri DE: Reggie DT: Alan Page OLB: Derrick Brooks OLB: LT MLB: Ray Lewis CB: Deion S: Ronnie Lott P: Ray Guy. Who else could you possibly name? |
