Some other big moves happened today besides Marian Hossa going to the Wings. In addition to a lot of re-signings, here's the highlights of the guys with new teams.
LW Sean Avery - NY Rangers to Dallas. Glad to get this punk out of New York. He drew a lot of attention for his pest style of play last year, specifically the arm waving in front of Martin Brodeur. Will definitely affect the way both the Stars and Rangers will play their games.
C Doug Weight - Anaheim to NY Islanders. Nice to bring some veteran presence to our young team. Won the Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006 and played with our captain Bill Guerin in the olympics twice. But the Islanders, despite looking dreadful continue to compete and overachieve. These moves are going to pay off soon. The Islanders are getting better every day of free agency. It's hard to attract the big names when you play in the old building that is Nassau Coliseum. Although I like having that building right down the street from my school.
LW Kristian Huselius - Calgary to Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus is a team with a lot of upside that you have to like. The Flames lost a quality guy here in Huselius to a team that continues to get better. They made big deals with the trade at the draft that got them R.J. Umberger from Philly and the recent signing of free agent Mike Commodore from Ottawa. Oh yeah, and they have Rick Nash. The only thing I have to say about Rick Nash is.. watch this video.
