i think the dream is about you achieving financial security/stability before you find Mrs. Right.

Until you are in the position where you can afford to splurge on yourself your not going to do the small things that most relationships need. (buying your girl flowers, sexy new clothes, paying for dates: dinner, bowling, golf, gocarts, pool, trips/vacations, movies, sex toys)

Your going to want to spoil yourself for a while before you are ready to spoil someone else. After all, your getting all your shit in line for you, not just some vagina that is cool to hang out with and possibly settle down with.
