Mike Tyson Ready for Fight Night Round 4
EA steps back into the ring in hopes of scoring a knockout. May 7, 2008 By Hilary Goldstein
EA revolutionized boxing games with Fight Night. Not wanting to let a good thing rest for too long, EA is stepping back into the ring, announcing Fight Night Round 4 for PS3 and Xbox 360. Though Round 4 won't be hitting store shelves until 2009, EA is starting the hype train early. "The EA Sports Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre," said Kevin Wilkinson, Executive Producer, EA Sports. "EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 was a platform defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA Sports Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future." Developed by EA Canada, Fight Night Round 4 promises that "no fight will be the same." Along with adding more fighting styles, Round 4 features a new physics-based animation system that allows for more realistic-looking missed punches, glancing blows and jaw-rocking knockouts. The game engine is being completely re-written to allow for greater boxer diversity and "rough and tumble" inside fighting. The full list of boxers has not been released, but a few names have been revealed. Muhammad Ali is back again and will be able to enter the ring with Sugar Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis and "Iron" Mike Tyson, among others. You read that right -- Mike "That is a Tattoo on My Face" Tyson is making his return to videogames. Hallelujah. ![]()

Posted via Mobile Device I'm not so sure fellas. IMO R2 was the best BOXING game of the series. R3 was very arcade-ish and just short of a being an all out "fighting" game rather then a boxing game, with it’s stun and super stun punches, what a joke. Then add in EA’s track record of just putting out "eye candy" with no depth, doesn't make me feel any better. I am waiting for Dana White to let a killer developer put out an UFC based game and that will put fight night to rest. As long as EA don’t get their “Here is the New Madden, same as the Old Madden” hands on it, the game should be great. I do understand that being a former boxer I see boxing games a lil different than the average gamer but anyone that has ever seen a boxing match can’t call R3 a good boxing game……

You Want It, I Got It

I agree. I owned FN2 and loved it, since then I haven't really liked the series, despite only one game coming afterwards. I may rent this, but really after a few days of playing it, I get a little uninterested.

I don't like you...

Its got potential, FN3 was an Xbox title ported for the 360. With this being a true next-gen game, I'll be interested to see how it turns out.
But honestly, as much as it is the sport that i love, there will never really be a good MMA game. Theres just way too many options, too much to control, I've played the old UFC game and wasnt impressed. But I also didnt see any ways to make it better in the future. |

1. Dana White puts his stamp on it meaning it has to be pure to the sport. He doesn't care if only die hard watch the UCF that's why it rules, and that’s why the sheep are starting to follow. The same thing could be done with a MMA based title. 2. We demand more as customers. Why does EA get away with year in and year out with repackaging that crap called MADDEN? Because the sheep don't complain they just pony up there 59.99 and keep the lie going. 3. Reward those that take time to really learn how to play the game. If you want some simple "eye candy" with a lil button mashing on the side, then go play DOA, but a MMA game should require some investment in time to become decent, period. 4. No need to drop a new title each year. Do we care that RGP series like Final Fantasy, Fable, or Fallout don’t release a new title every year? No, so game company “suites” should get off this trend. Just my 2cents. Peace Folk..... Samburu aka Doc Locks |

To Legit To Quit

Lets keep this topic about Fight Night Round 4, if you want to talk about the upcoming UFC game make another topic.
As for Fight Night, I loved Round 3, so if they can keep the sticks the same, make haymakers not quite as powerful, upgrade the fighting some, and get plenty of name fighters. If they don't get Mayweather, I'll be insanely disappointed. |
