Look: Kevin Garnett Named NBA 2K9 Cover Athlete

2K Sports announced during an advertisement before last night's Game 1 of the NBA Finals that Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett will be on the cover of their upcoming NBA 2K9, available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PS2. It will be Garnett's first time on a video game cover in eight years, with the then-Timberwolves star last appearing on the cover of NBA Live 2001.

In his first year with the Celtics after being traded to Boston in the offseason, Garnett's revitalized the franchise alongside fellow "Big Three" members Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, averaging 18.8 points and 9.2 rebounds during the regular season, and upping that to 21.2 points and 10 boards per game in the playoffs.

Garnett had bold words for gamers everywhere. "NBA 2K is where it's AT! End of story," the Celtics power forward said. "It's the game I play, the game my friends play, and the game anyone in the league serious about videogames plays. NBA 2K is the real deal, and until 2K Sports find a way to plant an elbow in your chest, it's the closest thing to actually being there on the court. I can't tell you how pumped I am to be on the cover of NBA 2K9 – it's a real honor. Now watch out! Because this fall 2K Sports and I are going to deliver the best basketball video game out there, period."

haha i hav a ps2 and i am glad theyre still making the game for ps2. or else id hav no way to buy a new nba game. id buy nba live if i had like a 360, cuz ive been loyal to that franchise, but i think that 2k series will start to dominate again if nba live 09 doesn't have any big new features added.

btw me and my cuzin are playin 2k8 rite now haha and made association mode in hall of fame mode. hall of fame difficulty is a good difficulty cuz superstar in nba 2k8 and nba live 08 are too easy.

i like the gameplay for nba live. Its easy to play and its a lot of fun. Btw the graphics for live are kickass. Overall a very good game with some little bugs. Like for example when you shoot with circle around the hoop your likely to hit the rim. The game needs to work on that inside prescence. I havent played 2k, cuz the graphics arent as good as lives.

First of all Nba Live is a terrible terrible game. Most sports titles by EA blow. Madden has been worse and worse every year and Nba live has never been good. 2k has 100x better gameplay and 100x better graphics. The Association mode is one of the deepest if not the deepest mode in any game. 2k blows away Live any day. Even Espn/2k Football games were and still are better than any madden titles. Ea Only Makes good boxing and soccer games. And I think Garnett deserves the cover. And i cant wait to see how great the games going to be.

wrong. Madden is getting better and will probably be at it's best for 09. All Pro Football 2k8 sucked balls. As far as sports games go, franchise/dynasty mode and online play make the entire experience. And as far as that goes, EA has their shit down pat. 100x better gameplay? no. 100x better graphics? impossible.

Madden is fuckin garbage. of all pro football sucks they cant use the reall players it kinda makes it difficult to make a good football game with out the players. Live graphics are fucking garbage and gameplay is arcade shit. If i wanted to play arcarde style basketball ill play nba jam. The graphics are terrible. Theyre just as bad as NBA 08

Once again its not fun because your not playing with the players of your time. Espn football shitted on madden and it was 20 dollars so fuck EA. Second my point was the fact that Live sucked and that 2k basketball is better. Not to shit on madden.

2k football was better than madden when Ea didnt have the football license. They havent made a football game since 2004 and madden has just been making shitty games every year and it was okay for them to be bad cuz there was nothing else.

I still like NBA live except it should be for the next gen. i only have a ps2 and live was a HUGE disappointment on there. 2k8 was fun on ps2 and i still play it.
