Official Madden 2009 review thread - The Postgame Pub

Madden comes out at midnight tonight. I won't be getting it till next week when my brother in law comes down to visit. Then I'll be playing it for 24hrs a day. Is anyone going to pick it up tonight? Leave reviews of what you think of this years version if you get it!

Lovin what I see so far. Animations on catches/tackles/jukes look great. Played a friend of mine online a couple of times, and I'm happy to not have uncessary online lag. Smart routes are a new favorite feature of mine, where you can change a certain route to actually make it to the first down marker instead of being short. User catching doesn't seem to be disrupted with strafe catches eliminated on offense. For Xbox 360, the button for the 5th receiver is changed from RB to LB, and pump fake is swapped from LB to RB, which is confusing at times. Some team overalls are overrated IMO.

One issue that I've seen is that sometimes after timeouts or penalties that stop gameplay, the screen won't go back to your playbook, but the play clock will be running down and you will get called for delay of game if you dont do something. Pausing fixes this.

There is a roster update on the spot with Favre on the Jets. I'm playing Madden Moments right now, which is basically scenario-based on the exciting finishes of last season. Probably gonna pop in Head Coach in a little bit.

In NCAA '09, the 5th receiver is LB, and to throw the ball away is RB.

Moving the right control stick is for the pump fake.

Shenanigans! that is ridiculous to me, clicking in the right stick is the throw away in Madden, as it always was.

does madden ever get a bad review....every year people love it and every year it gets better...i just hope that the "madden curse" lives on with Favre on the cover...which reminds me...did they put an update on it to put Favre on the jets?
