I want to see small government where the local governments make the big decisions/laws .
Thats the definition of socialism:
1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

I think redistribution of wealth is wrong, but we must also see from a different perspective. Police Department, Fire Department, United States Post Office, Libraries, United States Air Traffic System and Social Security are based upon socialistic ideals. If your against socialistic principles, are you against Social Security? Imagine a privatized Air Traffic Control system in which the taxes and fees you pay to fly are being put into the pockets of CEO's. I think that Obama's redistribution of wealth is being taken out of context. I believe what he trully means is a higher tax percentage for the wealthy and tax benefits for the middle class. But if it is just taxing the middle class and using that money to fund other programs, then I agree with you that its not the way to get this economy back on track.

I don't think giving local gov't powers over education, taxes (both local taxes and determining how much they actally give to the federal gov't out of collected taxes) could in any way shape or form be considered socialism. Because it's local, your laws only govern the people within you specific state or preferably specific part of the state. Because it's local you can't really consider the government or administration is over anything, it would be more like giving the power back to the people.

This was every the government best caters to the people in each region. A rural area will want much less assistance from fedral road systems and less money needed to be put into education than say a city area where roads/schools have a much larger need.

Schools would also vary by region as to what classes specificly vocational classes you should give/offer.

This would make each small sector of government cater specifily to the voters needs/wants.
