Ind. Team forums?

For the NBA at least but it would be good for all sports. I use to post but it is always threads about the same 2 teams in NBA, MLB, NFL, etc. so I no longer really post much and just stick with the sim league. You could build a good strong fan base within each team that go there to talk to fellow fans to vent....

the problem is, if we create those forums. then some of those forums will be vacant.

I think it would work also but would have to make sure to keep all tema forums with some current info.

It could work but we need people to be interested in every team of every sport. I just dont think we have someone interested in every team for it to be active and worth doing.

IMO, you need to have a very strong member base "before" you make individual team forums, guests looking in will see that a lot of the teams aren't member heavy and leave or not bother to register because the site looks dead.

If you guys want individual forums then you members need to fill up the current forums with posts first not the other way around, trust me a lot of sites fail in doing this, they add everything under the sun and the site goes dead because there isn't enough members of different teams to support it. I think just making individual threads for now will suffice and push up the post count in each forum, or you need a very busy mod or two to load the forums with news on a daily basis and if you're not willing to do this then don't bother with the individual stuff.

thats exactly right...

the trick to forums is to make them as simple as possible...when someone comes to a forum for the first time, you dont want to overwhelm them with sub forums...to have 30 sub forums would for one, have alot of vacant ones, and vacant forums make the site look dead, and for 2 would almost scare a forum noob away from the site.....when you get caught up in all of that it becomes a maze, MOST people can get easily lost in a maze.

also what adding those sub forums does is make more for the moderators to follow....now im not saying being a mod means you dont have to do anything but when you have a moderator that has to tend to 30 different sub forums he/she could get burned out and let the forums slide thus bringing in more spam and un wanted threads...and if you added more mods it would kinda take away from the higherarchy of staff members...when everyone is a staff member it is hard to keep order....


the sub forum per team is a good idea on paper but when you lay everything out it just becomes way to complicated. for instance, Darius' NBA rumors thread would have to be split up in the the team threads...now personally i would rather read all the rumors in 1 thread instead of going to 30 different ones and taking 10 times as long. the forums need to be a place of quick information and quick responses.

now i am not bashing your idea, i am just trying to lay it out so you can kinda see what else would consist of the team forums....now on the other had a good idea that is somewhat along the lines of your is to do what we have in the NFL section, devide it up by conference or even division...i hope this post helped you..
