No doubt this Mayweather/DLH fight is going to be one of the biggest in the past 10-20 years, but after this there are a few fights that are coming up but nothing even close to this caliber...Where does Mayweather go from here if he wins? I see Oscar retiring either way.

well i think its a misconception that boxing is dying out. boxing has been around forever and it will probably be around forever. it seems to me people are counting out the possibility of young and skilled boxers that no ones heard of yet.
although i totally agree boxing is in like a recession or something. nothing interesting to me has happened in boxing since Tysons last fight and it was a let down. i guess im waiting for the next Tyson to show up.

Boxing is dying out and the lead up to the DLH / FMW fight proves it. They went to sort of a reality type setting to televise practices..etc.. to hype of the fight.
What is missing? True heavyweights like they had back in the day. The emerging MMA isn't helping either. Boxing shouldn't have had this last fight on HBO PPV.

as long as there are greedy and shady promotors, not to mention all the corruption in the billion different Boxing organizations, then boxing will continue to fade

I doubt boxing will ever go away, but it will fade into obscurity if it keeps going the way its going. It's a simple concept really, boxing just doesnt have the complexity that MMA does, nor, IMO, the reality. I mean, how many times have you seen two guys just shuffle around and punch each other in a real fight? I've never seen it.
MMA just has more to offer, its more accessible, its faster paced (usually), its just plain more exciting. |

what boxing needs to do is, start offering some of their bigger fights on regular TV, like they did back in the day. Thats the reason why boxing was as big as it was back then.
