I've been playing hockey since i was 13 and my biggest weakness is my speed or lack there of.
What kind of exercises can I do with free weights and are bar bell/dumb bell to improve my leg stregenth so I can skate faster. I'm 6'2 150 lbs and have really long legs, i know with some work I should be able to hang with the best of them.

If you have an excersise ball you can do squats with dumbells in each hand. I use 20lbs in each hand. Place the ball on your back against the wall. It helps you be able to squat straight down and up. Do about 10 reps at a team in sets of say 3-5.

I was reading something on a similar topic the other day. I suggest squats. Deep deep deep full range of motion squats.
