"sanjaya-ize" the mlb all-star game - The Postgame Pub

Okay, here's what's wrong with major league baseball's all-star game. All the starters are determined by fan voting (except pitchers and NL DH). So, it's basically a popularity contest. How else could Pedroia be getting more votes than Kinsler? We've seen some even worse examples over the years. MLB however, has said it is fine. So, we need to send them a message that this won't work. How? Same way Votefortheworst.com sends a similar message to shows like American Idol. We need to vote for the worst possible players at each position. Thus, if enough people do this, MLB will see just how bad this style is. Now, before I state which players to vote for, let me tell you what I propose- I would support a solution which would give fans 50% voting, and then splitting the other 50% between media, managers, and possibly even players on teams. (Although of course, with managers and players, we'd have to institute a rule saying they can't pick someone on their team.) Now, here's who to vote for to "Sanjaya-ize" the MLB all-star game:
AL:
1B Richie Sexson
2B Asdrubal Cabrera
SS Tony Pena
3B Mike Lamb
OF Adam Jones, Nick Swisher, Jose Guillen
C Kenji Jojhima
DH Jose Vidro
NL:
1B Adam LaRoche
2B Richie Weeks
SS Khalil Greene
3B Jose Bautista
OF Michael Bourn, Scott Hairston, Autin Kearns
C Josh Bard

Please vote for these players as many times as you gan, just to spite MLB. Man, this is going to be fun!

no i havent i am just saying Sexson is not the best 1st Baseman he is batting 217 with 9 hr and 23 RBI....the point of the all star game is not to vote in people who dont belong there.....i do agree that some players shouldnt go in because it IS a popularity contest but totally snubbing guys just because they are fan favorites isnt right...those players are fan favorites because they are good players....an i do agree that some players that are fan favorites arent always having good seasons and some shouldnt be there..

the 1st baseman should be Justin Morneau for the simple fact that he has the best numbers for a 1st baseman in the AL...period

and i understand what the website is trying to do....i just dont think that sending in the worst ones will help....they let the fans vote for the game to make the fans happy...and the big names get in to draw rating...they know thats how it will work...i just dont think that it is right thats all

dude i get the point of the thread..i just happen to think that its the dumbest thing ever.....

i know that the whole point is to get the worst guys in the all-star game and give the MLB a swift kick in the nuts........i still think it is stupid....the all star game something that the fans can actually take part in and if they want to vote in the most popular people then let them...its called democracy.....

and also this whole thread is borderline spam because a guy with no posts comes in and does nothing to his profile and creates a thread with a website link...i bet he has many other thread at many other sites with the same thing....if this guy ever visits this site again i will be surprised...so everything that we are arguing over is based on someone breaking the rules of the forums

there's nothing wrong with including a link for a web site, as long as there's something of substance to the post. it is a pretty stupid idea, but the idea of richie sexson in an all star game made me laugh (as i'm sure it did you).

the idea of most of those players being in he all-star game made me laugh...like giantschamp said "i would hate to watch your all-star game" it would be a disaster for MLB
