Jets-Dolphins. A game i enjoy watching, but with a large knot in my stomach. We have lost 8 of the last 9 games we have played them if I recall correctly. So what does it take to beat these pesky J-E-T-S JETS!?!?
For one, we need to give Pennington more time to throw the ball and Sunday was proof of that. Pennington came out strong (after his initial hiccup, which he later confessed to pre-game jitters), but fell off for most of the game due to a collapsing pocket. Now maybe I shouldn't be so hard on our O-Line considering we have 2 rookies and a second year center, but we have to learn how to play as one and learn quickly. Jake had two crucial penalties against him which really deflated our offensive drives, but that wasn't the reason why we came up short. What the hell was wrong with our special teams and kicking the ball 20yds or out of bounds!?!! Stupid mistakes that have to drive Sparano crazy! Ricky and Ronnie never really got off to a start b/c they played us like they knew our playbook. What surprised me the most is how they literally took Ginn Jr. out of our offensive scheme all-together. We need to bounce back, and FAST! I feel that we can come away with a win at Arizona, but it won't be easy. Our DB's are going to have a hell of a time matching up with their deep threats and our run defense looked anything, but great against a mediocre running team. It will only get worse against James if we don't correct our mistakes. All in all I am dissapointed, yet unsurpirsed that we lost. Miami has been the same team for the last 5-6 years and although we have much improved on paper, we will need to come together on the field if we are to break out of this slump. |

We just lost Donald Thomas, our promising rookie RG, for the season with a foot injury. That definitely hurts. Evan Mathis has been brought in, though. He knows the system, and has worked with both coaches already.
As for Arizona, we shouldn't have a problem pressuring Warner. SF was able to do it. Why can't we? That's the only way we're going to win on the defensive side of the ball. Our secondary can't handle Fitzgerald, and Boldin, so Warner has to be the one underachieving. On offense, we need to run the ball more, and attempt some screen passes to our backs. Pennington has no reason to chuck the ball 40+ times like he did against the Jets. We have two proven backs in the backfield. Use them. When we do pass, though, our WRs don't do jack shit (per Week 1; Wilford was inactive for who knows what reason), but those double TE sets with Fasano, and Martin dominated the Jets D. |

Anyway. A win in arizona will most likely happen. Thats not what we need to worry about though. Ted ginn didnt do anything Sunday, especially on Kick returns. We need to use him as an offensive weapon. But, We need to stop making the little mistakes. That KILLS us! That really did lose us the game Sunday... Things are turning around in Miami. They are putting together a tough little squad. Give them two years and they'll be a playoff team. this year, im see 7 wins for us... |

I agree with the whole 2yr deal, however I think we could see at 10 win team next year. We are building a Dolphins franchise again, not just a patch work team to get us through the year.
...7 wins sounds about right. |

We do need a WR, a couple of them would be nice. A playmaker at the WR position would be good for Pennington. Give him a little more confidence to let him know that he doesn't halways have to make perfect throws. Another playmaker would take some of the pressure off pennington.
All i know is that i cannot wait until Miami becomes a good football team again, because im tired of taking shit for being a fan. All i can really say is that i love 'em and they are my team lol. Go Phins ! |

Seriously, EVERYONE hates us b/c we love our team no matter if we win or loose. Many people don't know this, but between 1989 and 2003, Miami never posted a loosing record. I think that's pretty damn good if ya ask me.
...Most NFL fans only have a memory span of 2-3 yrs and say your team " sucks" if you have a few back to back years of loosing. Those fans disappear when their team go's through the cycle. |
