Boom you buy it, bust you don't agree.
The overtime rules needs to change. I say boom. Even if it's just for the postseason. If a the team that gets the ball first in overtime scores. The opposing team should be given an oppurtunity to match the score, if not they lose. |

Boom.
The team that loses the coin toss should get an equal chance to match, or beat what their opponents have done. I'm not saying that it should be like the overtime in college football, which I absolutely love, though. |

I think the same way Crono. A coin toss should not determine games. BEcause in this day and age int he NFL, all you need is to get about 35 yds after the kick return and it's game over. Give it more substance

Leave OT as it stands. You can't buy into the fact that a game is won or lost on a coin flip. If you lose the coin toss, your defense has to be ready to go out and take care of business, just as your offense does if you win it.

Then the same can be said for baseball. Instead of a coin flip, it's based on the the luck of being the away team so that you go on offense first, but the home team still gets the chance to match, or beat what you have done.
Eh, maybe that's a bad example. |

So under whatever you guys are proposing, what if the first team to go on offense throws an interception for a touchdown on the first drive of overtime. Does the first team get another shot on offense now? If not then we're right back to sudden death.
Maybe soccer rules? Whoever has the lead after a time limit is declared winner? |

Bust, theres been no problem with OT until people like Sebastian Janikowski were able to kick 65+ yard field goals :P
I think this whole OT talk throughout this season was triggered by the Eagles and Bengals game. I can not think of another time where people said OT needs to change. Hell, if it wasn't for OT todays current OT rules, Brett Favre might've had another shot at the Superbowl instead of ending his career in GB with an interception :P |

Boom.
Sudden death only works in sports where both teams have the opportunity to actually score such as hockey and soccer. How about we have sudden death in basketball? Team that wins the tip-off is pretty much guaranteed to win! I don't understand why the NFL doesn't adopt a system similar to how the NBA and how MLB determines OT/extra innings. You basically play the equivalent of another quarter until the score is no longer tied at the end of that extra period. These OT wins in the NFL seem cheap at the end of the day given that winning the coin toss usually means you'll end up winning the game. |

Bust. This is professional football. If you lose the coin flip and don't want to lose the game, play defense and don't let the opposing offense get 35 yards to kick a field goal. Why should a team get an opportunity to answer or win a game after they've been scored on? As far as a tie goes, if neither team is hungry enough to win an overtime game in a fifteen minute extra quarter, then neither team deserves a win.

Boom. I'm tired of these OT games taking full amounts of time. The networks worry about Overtime cutting into their regularly scheduled programming? put in the College OT rules. It wraps it up a bit faster, and that way SOMEBODY has to win. A tie is stupid, it's like "Well you gave it your all but you don't win or lose".
Come on, ties are for little league when you're 6 years old on the T-Ball team. The point of sports is that there's a winner and a loser, not a 'tied' result.
