I just wanted to say that this forum has helped me out a lot.
I also wanted to throw in some things i've learned as well as some questions about the game. As far as learning the game, I have really had success playing this game as if it were actually a real game. For instance, as suggested in the prior posts, I always take the first pitch. This helped me not so much with getting walks (Im an aggressive hitter), but it helped me to recognize the pitches more than anything. Unless the first pitch is a high fastball, I'm not swinging. I also learned to hit according to my hot zone. For instance, assuming the hitters zone was numbered from left to right, top to bottom, my hitters hot sections would be 2,3,6,and 7. S I learned to look for anything up, in, both, or the lower outside corner. One very important thing I had to do (although it felt like cheating) was adjust my sliders (options on rtts). This was epecially important while I was positioned as a bench player because I was not getting enough playing time to get any training points. As a result my attributes started to decrease. Now that my attributes are decent I adjusted them back to normal (...or did I :). That brings me to my questions, 1. Why has my hitters contact zones stayed the same? I have been hitting practically everyzone as well as increasing my contact attributes. 2. Why is my contact left the reciprocal of my contact right? hint: I'm a switch hitter. Hope you guys can help, and keep this site goin would ya. thanks |

If you try the suggestions on finding the release point it will help a ton. I look for a spot behind the pitcher to the left of the screen and move my eyes to his pitching shoulder during the wined up. I have also noticed that in RTTS when your player is still developing power, your chance of getting hits will increase if you look to hit the other way in a hitters count (2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3.-1) in the count. I take on 3-0, but I know some guys look to swing on this count. In franchise mode hitters like Manny or ARod can pull the ball on these counts. One last thing I NEVER use power swing. Let me know if this works.
I hope this helps... Peace Samburu aka Doc Locks |

I also have a few strategies in response to your question Bobo.
-increase your plate vision and plate discipline with your training points. Vision will help you hit balls fair instead of foul, and the plate discipline will help your player hold up on pitches not in the zone (you know, when your dead on a pitch and for some reason your player checks his swing even though your standing on the swing button or vise versa.) You still need to learn to recognize pitches, but this will help with some of the stuff you can't really control. And like the guy was saying a few posts prior, if your in a hitters count (2-0,3-0,3-1 etc.) and there is a runner in scoring position, the pitcher is in trouble, not you. Recognizing these situations will help you to sit on a specific pitch and location (most of the time it's a fast ball). -I also tried to increase my speed. Obviously this is good but especially so when I get a hit to the gap or corner. I am now able to leg out a single into a double or a double into a triple occasionally. Basically, I can make it to an extra base regardless of the situation. This will help get you more points for training in other areas. Hope this helps, keep us posted if you discover anything good. |

500 points if you make it to the all-star game. Be sure to make the most of it as everything is like double points (i.e. 1 hit is 20 instead of 10).

Folk
My pitcher is now in majors and is doing great (6-4 with an 3.91 ERA, 5th starter) but not many K's. I really want to cut down on the number of H/9 which is about 8. I am looking to add another pitch to my Fastball, Change, Curve, Slider toolbox. My question is which pitch should I go with, either another fastball (RFB, 2FB, Cutter, Sinker) or another off speed pitch? FYI my SS is still stuck in AA but has been ready to move. 2nd year AA thinking of requesting a trade.... Peace Doc Locks |

I'm having trouble giving up runs during online play. I try to keep the ball low and away as much as possible but I still give up big home runs. I consider myself a decent player, im not great but I need some tips on keeping the ball inside the park.

Wow, all of you guys have done a wonderful job here. Thanks a lot for this great tips. Can you help me with this questions:
Can I update the roster of the current MLB to a RTTS roster? If so how? How can I easily hit homers if I have a crappy power strengh? (like all players that start off on the RTTS) Does some one has a list of points rewarded by feat accomplished? Any help will be very appreciated, Thanks |

The sinker is a great pitch to strike out and also to get ground balls. With good stats in break and velocity you can even freeze RHB into thinking its outside, becase it will break into the strike out zone.
I my personal favorite is the slurve. It's 2 great pitches in one. Is a slider and a curve and its break movement makes it easy to fool around the plate with it. Good luck |
